A day that will last long in their memories

With their caps and gowns on, FLASS graduates gather to commemorate the completion of their academic journey at EdUHK, and look forward to the bright futures that lie ahead!

When our graduates returned in caps and gowns to celebrate, it was more than a mere formality; it marked a significant milestone in their lives.

FLASS held two on-campus graduation ceremonies on a Saturday in November. On that day, the campus was transformed into a grand celebratory venue filled with laughter, chatter, and selfies. It was a celebration characterised by smiles, alongside occasional tears of joy, as graduates left the ceremony venue to take photos with their classmates, teachers, family members, and friends. It was indeed a day that will remain etched in their memories.

In the academic year 2023/24, over 1,200 students graduated from 29 programmes offered by FLASS, including eight taught postgraduate programmes, two PGDEs, and 19 bachelor’s degree programmes. This year, eight students from FLASS were awarded the President Honour title in recognition of their academic excellence and good conduct. On 16 November, around 800 students attended the two ceremonies, with family members and friends watching live broadcasts of the ceremonies in other lecture theatres on campus.

Dean of FLASS Professor Li Wai-keung led other presiding professors to officiate at the two ceremony sessions. In his congratulatory speech to our graduates, Professor Li stated that while graduation may mark the end of their studies, it also represents the beginning of a new chapter in their lives. “Graduates, when you look back in a decade’s time, you will still remember these days when you studied hard for your courses, played hard with your classmates, served the community through various engagement projects, and interacted with your teachers. Beyond the academic awards conferred upon you, I am sure these memories are the most treasured things that will stay with you throughout any challenges and difficulties that arise in your life,” Professor Li said.

We at FLASS are proud of the remarkable accomplishments of our graduates and wish them every success and happiness in their future endeavours. One day, when memories of the moments they spent at EdUHK, and of the day they threw their graduation caps high into the sky while sharing joy, laughter and chats resurface, they will understand how deep their ties with the Faculty and EdUHK are.

Congratulations!
